AI Photo Trend Prompts: The Viral Looks Right Now and How to Make Them

An AI photo trend prompt is the text people paste in next to a selfie to recreate a look that's spreading on social media, such as the 1980s portrait that took off in September 2026. This page collects the trends that spread from March 2025 through September 2026, newest first, with one prompt for each. The Hindu reported in September 2025 that Nano Banana images were being shared on Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn, and that the saree wave recalled the Ghibli-style portraits made with ChatGPT a few months earlier.

How a good AI photo trend prompt is built

Every trend prompt, whatever the look, has the same five parts:

1. The look in one phrase. "A 1980s studio portrait", "a big-head caricature", "a boxed action figure".
2. Era or style details. The hair, clothes and props that make the look, named exactly.
3. Setting. One backdrop: a studio sweep, a sunset, a desk, a curtain.
4. Camera and finish. Film grain, flash, soft focus, glossy plastic, painted brushwork.
5. What stays. Google's Nano Banana prompting guide says an edit prompt should spell out what must not change. On a selfie, that part is your face.

Fill in the brackets for any trend:

Job caricature

Redraw me as a playful caricature of a veterinarian at work, with an oversized head and a tiny cartoon body, a stethoscope in hand, a sleepy beagle on the exam table and a jar of dog treats at my elbow. Glossy 3D cartoon look. My face, curls and glasses must stay recognizable.

Change: the job, the props and one pet or hobby only coworkers would know.

Ghibli-style portrait

The September 2025 Gemini trend. The 3D figurine prompts include anime, vinyl and bronze styles.

A one-photo version of the instant photo look. The two-photo hug with your younger self needs a tool that takes more than one photo, so the AI Polaroid prompts are written for Image Generator, which takes up to 3.

Make this photo look like an instant camera print from a party: bright on-camera flash, shadowy edges, a touch of blur and warm faded color, framed by a thick blank white border with extra space along the bottom edge. My face and pose stay exactly as they are.

Change: add a short marker caption on the border, such as a year or a place.

Halloween costume edit

For October, dress up your own photo instead of buying a costume. The Halloween AI photo prompts have costumes for selfies, couples, families and pets.

Tips for better AI photo trend results

Rewrite the viral text in your own details. The caricature trend's original prompt relied on ChatGPT's memory of past chats, and a copied prompt can carry someone else's job or props. Put your own job, hobby or era details in writing.

Always include a line that keeps your face. Every prompt above ends with one. Name two features, such as freckles and glasses, so a stylized result still looks like you.

Start from one sharp photo of one person. Crop a group shot down to the person the trend is about, unless the trend needs two photos, like the younger-self hug. Upload other people only with their permission. Toybox's privacy policy explains how uploaded photos are handled.

Post in a shape Instagram keeps. Instagram leaves photos at their original shape from 1.91:1 wide to 3:4 tall and crops anything else. In Smart Editor, the Social (4:5) and Square (1:1) shapes both post whole.

Check for things you didn't ask for. Extra jewelry, a sixth finger, a logo on a shirt or a made-up word on a sign. Zoom in before you share.

Fixes for common problems

Try a trend on your own photo in Smart Editor
