ChatGPT Prompts for Marketing: Flyers, Ads, Emails and Small Business Promos

ChatGPT prompts for marketing work when they carry the offer, the dates, the address, who it's for and the exact words of the call to action, then name the format. The flyer and promo prompts below run in Toybox Flyer Maker or in ChatGPT, and the ad and email prompts run in ChatGPT or AI Writer. Check every price and date before anything goes out.

These ChatGPT prompts for marketing make the pieces a small business actually puts out: sale flyers, grand opening posters, service price lists, social promo images and email headers, plus the ad and email copy that goes with them. The flyer prompts go into Flyer Maker in Toybox AI, which builds a finished flyer image out of one description, and ChatGPT can take them as a first draft too, though each model renders them a little differently. The copy prompts run in ChatGPT or AI Writer. Swap in your own business, dates and prices before you run any of them.

How a good ChatGPT prompt for marketing is built

A marketing prompt has to carry everything a stranger needs to act on the offer. The six parts, top to bottom:

  1. The headline, in quotes, exactly as it should print.
  2. The offer, with a number: "25% off all boots", "free tune-up check".
  3. When: weekday, date and hours, and the end date for any sale.
  4. Where: the business name and full street address.
  5. The call to action, word for word: "Call 555-0122", "RSVP at name@example.com".
  6. The look: colors, one picture idea and the mood.

Flyer Maker fills any gap on its own. Skip the call to action, for example, and it can print a placeholder button reading "CALL TO ACTION", and it may add a tagline you never wrote, so proofread for one. Fill in this template:

[Type of flyer] for [business name], [street address]. Headline: "[headline]". [The offer, with numbers]. [Weekday, month and day], [start time] to [end time]. [Who it's for]. [Price, or "Free"]. [Exact call to action with phone or email]. [Two colors], [one picture idea], [mood].

Copy prompts for ads and emails

ChatGPT prompts for marketing content such as ads, emails and review requests go into ChatGPT or into AI Writer with Type set to "Ad" or "Email". Paste these as they are, with your facts in the brackets:

  • Google search ad: "Write 15 Google Ads headlines of 30 characters or fewer and 4 descriptions of 90 characters or fewer for [business], based on these facts: [offer, place, hours]. No exclamation marks. List the character count after each line." Google's limits for responsive search ads are 30 characters per headline and 90 per description.
  • Promo email: "Write a promotional email for [business] about [offer and end date]. Subject line under 50 characters that says what the offer is. Three short paragraphs and one button text. End with our street address, [address], and a line explaining how to unsubscribe." Every promo email should say what it's about, include your business address and an easy unsubscribe link, so readers know who sent it and can stop the emails whenever they want.
  • Review request: "Write a short thank-you message asking customers of [business] to leave an honest review on [site]. Don't offer a reward and don't suggest what to say." Ask real customers for honest reviews and don't reward positive ones, so every review you get is one a shopper can trust.
  • One offer, three channels: "Here is our flyer text: [paste it]. Write an Instagram caption and a two-sentence text message that use the same offer, dates and address, word for word." For ChatGPT prompts for marketing campaigns, start from the flyer text like this, so a customer who sees all three sees one end date.

For listing copy, the AI product description generator has briefs for Etsy, Shopify and WooCommerce.

Product photo prompts for marketing images

Product shots start from a photo of the actual product, not a flyer prompt. In Product Mockup, upload the photo, pick a scene such as Studio or Flat lay, and add a note in "Anything else?" like "Soft window light from the right, on a pale oak table, with a sprig of eucalyptus beside it." The product photography prompts library has scene-by-scene wording.

Tips for better marketing results

  • Write the end date once and reuse it. Put the same weekday and date in the flyer prompt, the caption and the email, so a customer never sees two different last days.
  • Quote the call to action. "Call 555-0122 to book" gives the flyer exact words to print. "Add a call to action" leaves the wording to the AI.
  • Keep flyer text to phone size. A headline, the offer and three short lines read on a phone screen; a paragraph doesn't.
  • Say what must not appear. ChatGPT's image guidance suggests naming what has to be left out of the picture, such as "no tagline" or "no extra prices".
  • One offer per prompt. Two discounts and a raffle on one flyer compete for the headline. Split them into two flyers or two posts.
  • Proofread like a customer. Read each price, date, address and phone number on the finished image before you print or post it.

Fixes for common problems

Problem Add this to your prompt
A "CALL TO ACTION" placeholder button The exact words: "Call 555-0122 to book."
An invented slogan under the headline "Print only the words in this description. No tagline."
Too much small text "Headline, the offer and three short lines only."
The date is missing its weekday "Write the date as Saturday, October 24."
Colors don't match your shop "Use only navy and gold." In Flyer Maker, also choose "My brand colors"
A fake QR code drawn on the image In ChatGPT: "Keep an empty white square in the bottom right corner." In Flyer Maker: switch on "Leave a blank square for your QR code"
Prices without a dollar sign "Show every price with a dollar sign, like $35."
The same flyer, but for Instagram Keep the description and switch the size to Portrait (4:5)

Run these prompts in Flyer Maker

Open Flyer Maker, paste a prompt into "Describe your flyer", choose the size and flyer type, and select "Create flyer"; it's usually ready in about 30 seconds. It won't draw fake QR codes, so switch on "Leave a blank square for your QR code" and paste your real one in. If a date or price comes out wrong, type the fix into the "Want to change something?" box that appears with your finished flyer (currently 60 credits, 70 for 2K, 90 for 4K). More layouts and wording by occasion are in the flyer prompts library, the small business flyer ideas, and a roundup of AI tools for small business.

Frequently asked questions

Do these marketing prompts work in ChatGPT?

Yes. Paste a flyer prompt into ChatGPT and ask for an image, or paste a copy prompt and ask for text. How many images ChatGPT will make for you depends on your plan. OpenAI's own guidance for text in images is to quote the exact words and review every one, so check each date, price and phone number before you use the image.

Which ChatGPT prompts work best for small business owners?

The ones that carry your real facts. A prompt with the offer, the end date, the street address and the exact words of the call to action gets a usable draft; "make a flyer for my shop" gets a guess. Start from the template on this page and fill every blank before you run it.

Can ChatGPT write marketing emails I can send?

It can draft them, and you check them before they go out. Every promo email should have a subject line that says what it's about, your business address and an easy unsubscribe link, and it should go only to people who signed up. Take anyone who unsubscribes off your list right away, and read every price and date in the draft.

Can I ask ChatGPT to write reviews or testimonials for my business?

No. Made-up reviews mislead the customers you're trying to win, and review sites remove them. Ask real customers for honest reviews and don't reward positive ones. AI can help with that part: have it draft a polite review request, and replies to the reviews you get.

How much does it cost to run the flyer prompts in Toybox?

Flyer Maker currently costs 80 credits per flyer, or 90 for 2K and 100 for 4K, and it works on the Free plan. That's about 80 cents at top-up prices, and top-ups start at $4.99 for 500 credits. AI Writer, for the copy prompts, currently costs 5 credits per run.

How long can Google Ads headlines be?

Up to 30 characters each. Google's help center says a responsive search ad takes up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions, with descriptions up to 90 characters each and each display path up to 15. Ask for the exact counts and limits in your prompt, then count the characters yourself before you paste.
