Trivia night poster and flyer design tips
Make the night the headline. "Tuesday Trivia" in huge type, with the start time right under it, is what a regular reads from the door.
Use trivia motifs, then stop. Question marks, a lightbulb, a chalkboard or a vintage microphone set the tone. One or two is enough, because a busy background hides the prize line.
Chalkboard for bars, bright colors for schools. A bar poster suits Dark colors with Bold or Retro style and Illustration pictures. A school fundraiser suits Playful style with Vibrant colors and Geometric pictures.
Put one easy sample question on it. "How many sides does a hexagon have?" gives passersby something to answer in their heads, and "Answer at the bar" gives them a reason to walk in.
Make a TV version. If the bar loops promos on a TV, a Wide (5:4) image fills more of a widescreen TV than a tall flyer, which leaves wide blank bars on both sides.
