A golf tournament flyer has two audiences: golfers deciding whether to sign up a foursome, and local businesses deciding whether to sponsor a hole. It gets pinned up in pro shops and clubhouses, emailed to last year's players, and handed to sponsors. The checklist serves both audiences, and the sections after it give wording for charity scrambles and corporate outings, sponsor levels with hole sign wording, and sizes. For the rest of the fundraising day, see these fundraiser event ideas.
What to put on a golf tournament flyer
Give golfers and sponsors all of these, roughly in this order:
- Event name and cause. "Quillmere Scholarship Scramble, benefiting the Quillmere Education Foundation."
- Course name and full address. If the course has a separate event entrance or lot, say which one.
- The weekday and date. "Friday, May 14."
- Check-in, start and awards times. "7:30 AM check-in, 8:30 AM shotgun start, lunch and awards at 1:30 PM."
- The format. "Four-person scramble" or "Two-person best ball". Add "all skill levels welcome" for a charity crowd.
- Price per golfer and per foursome. "$150 per golfer or $550 per foursome."
- What the price includes. Cart, green fees, range balls, lunch, a gift bag.
- Contests and extras. Longest drive, closest to the pin, a hole-in-one prize, mulligans or raffle tickets for sale.
- Sponsor levels. Title, lunch, cart and hole sponsors with prices, or a line pointing to the sponsor sheet.
- Registration deadline and link. "Register by Friday, April 30", with a QR code to the form.
- A rain policy. "Rain or shine" or "Rain date: Friday, May 21", so golfers don't have to call the course to ask.
- One contact. A name, phone number and email.
Minus the golf details, the same checklist fits any ticketed benefit, and the general version is on the event flyer wording page.
Golf tournament flyer ideas and wording
Eight kinds of outings, from a charity scramble to a save-the-date. Treat any row as a golf tournament flyer template and add your course, times and prices.
| Event | Headline | Supporting line |
|---|---|---|
| Charity scramble | "Quillmere Scholarship Scramble" | "Four-person scramble, Friday, May 14. $550 per foursome, lunch and carts included." |
| Corporate client outing | "Client Appreciation Golf Outing" | "Thursday, June 10. Invitation only. RSVP by May 28." |
| Memorial tournament | "The Uncle Walt Memorial Classic" | "Our 5th year remembering Walt. Proceeds fund a scholarship in his name." |
| High school booster outing | "Tee Off for the Tigers" | "Every foursome funds a season of equipment for the golf and tennis teams." |
| Church golf outing | "Fairways and Fellowship" | "Nine holes and a cookout. $60 per golfer, all skill levels welcome." |
| Youth sports fundraiser | "Fore the Kids" | "Proceeds cover league fees for families who can't afford them." |
| Beginner nine-hole event | "First-Timers Nine and Dine" | "Nine holes, a short clinic at 3 PM and dinner at 6." |
| Save the date | "Save the Date: Scholarship Scramble" | "Friday, May 14. Registration opens March 1." |
Selling raffle tickets at registration takes its own planning, and the raffle flyer rules and wording page covers prize lists and what to check first. A quiz or awards night after the round can borrow from the trivia night flyer wording.
A few wording habits for golf flyers:
- Say "shotgun start" only when it is one. In a shotgun start every group tees off at the same time from a different hole. If groups go off one after another, print "Tee times from 8 AM" instead.
- Name the format in plain words for charity crowds. "Four-person scramble: everyone hits, the team plays the best shot" tells a casual golfer they won't hold anyone up.
- Give the foursome price its own line. A business signing up a team should find "$550 per foursome" as fast as the per-golfer price.
Sponsor levels and hole sponsor wording
A sponsor sheet lists each level, its price and what the sponsor gets. A simple four-level structure, with fictional prices:
| Level | Price | What the sponsor gets |
|---|---|---|
| Title sponsor | $5,000 | Name in the event title, logo on the banner, one foursome |
| Lunch sponsor | $2,000 | Sign at the lunch tent, two golfers |
| Cart sponsor | $1,000 | Logo on every cart |
| Hole sponsor | $250 | Sign at one tee box |
Keep hole sponsor signs short, because golfers read them from the tee box between shots. A name, a logo, a phone number and a website fit: "Quillmere Plumbing, 555-0165, plumbing.example.com". When a charity runs the outing, ask its treasurer before a sign adds prices, discounts or "best in town" claims. Collect each sponsor's logo file and exact business name when they pay, so the signs, the banner and the flyer all spell it the same way.
For entry fees, don't promise a tax deduction on the flyer. If a registered charity runs the event, let it tell golfers what's deductible. The flyer's job is to say what the fee covers: "$150 per golfer, includes golf, cart, range balls and lunch."
Design tips for golf tournament flyers
Put the start time right under the date. The shotgun time decides when golfers leave home, so "Friday, May 14, 8:30 AM shotgun" should read as one line.
Use a green-and-flag image, not a famous course. A photo of a generic fairway or an illustrated flag on a green works. Avoid anything that looks like a well-known course, tournament trophy or golf brand's logo.
List sponsors by name, not logo. Flyer Maker places one logo, your own, typically as a small mark in the header or footer area. Put sponsor names in text on the flyer and save their logos for the banner and the cart signs.
Put a registration form on the back. Print the flyer on the front of the letter copy and a fill-in form on the back with player names, handicaps, shirt sizes and how to pay. Golfers who won't register online can mail it in with a check.
Make an email version in Wide. A 5:4 image fits at the top of an email to last year's players, right above the registration link.
Keep the price block together. Per golfer, per foursome, what's included and the deadline belong in one box, so nobody has to piece them together from three corners.
Golf tournament flyer sizes and printing
A tournament usually needs a clubhouse copy, a sponsor sheet and an email image.
| Item | Dimensions | Pixel count at 300 PPI | Output to choose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro shop or clubhouse board | 8.5 by 11 in sheet | 2550 x 3300 | Tall, 4K quality |
| Sponsor sheet for local businesses | 8.5 by 11 in sheet | 2550 x 3300 | Tall, 4K quality, "Packed" layout |
| Email to past golfers and sponsors | Inbox image | Not needed | Wide, 2K quality (1920 x 1536) |
Vistaprint's help center recommends 300 dpi at the final print size. Tall at 4K (2480 x 3312 pixels) prints 8.3 by 11 inches at that density. The 3:4 shape is a touch narrower than the sheet, so about 1/8 inch stays unprinted down each side, which nobody notices on a pro shop board. For printing, choose 2K or 4K. Other sizes are in the sizes for flyers and posters.
More golf tournament flyer prompts
Two more golf tournament flyer examples: a memorial tournament and a save-the-date image for the first email of the season. Run the save-the-date in the Wide size so it sits at the top of the email. Both are written for Flyer Maker.

One tournament description in Toybox AI's Flyer Maker can give you the Tall clubhouse copy and the Wide email image, one run each. Sign in from a phone or laptop browser to use it.
- Confirm the details with the course first: the date, check-in and start times, the format, and what the fee includes.
- Put everything into "Describe your flyer" in Flyer Maker: the event name and cause, course and address, weekday and date, times, format, prices, inclusions, contests, sponsor levels, deadline and contact.
- Upload your organization's logo through "Add your logo", and write sponsor names into the description.
- Make the clubhouse copy in Tall and a Wide version for the email to past golfers.
- Under "More options", keep Flyer type on Event. Luxury or Elegant with "Dark" colors suit a corporate outing, and Bold suits a booster scramble. Pick the "Packed" layout if the flyer also lists sponsor levels.
- Enable "Leave a blank square for your QR code" and put your registration form's real code into the square. Flyer Maker doesn't generate QR codes.
- Generate it, then proofread the date, the times, both prices, the rain date and the deadline. Send one correction through "Want to change something?" (currently 60 credits, 70 for 2K, 90 for 4K), or rework the description when several things need to change.
