LinkedIn Headshot Prompts to Copy for ChatGPT, Gemini and Portrait Pro

These LinkedIn headshot prompts turn one clear photo of you into a professional profile picture. Each is written for the "Details" box in Toybox AI's Portrait Pro, where it adds clothing, background, light and expression to the Look you choose, and each also works as a starting point in ChatGPT or Gemini once you attach your photo. Results vary by tool and model. Every prompt ends with a line asking the AI to keep your face as it is, and none of them work without an uploaded photo.

How a good LinkedIn headshot prompt is built

A LinkedIn headshot prompt covers six things. Write them in this order, with what stays the same at the end:

1. Clothing, with a color: "navy blazer over a white crew-neck".
2. Background, plain and named: "light gray studio backdrop".
3. Light, with a direction: "soft window light from the left".
4. Framing: "head and shoulders at eye level".
5. Expression: "relaxed closed-mouth smile".
6. What stays the same: "Keep my face, hair, skin tone and glasses exactly as in my photo."

Google's August 2025 prompting guide for Gemini breaks a prompt into subject, composition, action, location and style, and says a request to change an existing image should be direct and specific. LinkedIn adds a framing rule: its Talent Blog wants your face to fill about 60% of the frame, with your shoulders along the bottom edge and a little room over your hair. Using these prompts in ChatGPT and Gemini

A LinkedIn headshot prompt for ChatGPT or Gemini needs one extra opening line, because a general chat app doesn't know you want a headshot: "Turn this photo into a professional LinkedIn headshot." Attach your photo first, then paste that line and one prompt. The same goes for any professional headshot prompt for ChatGPT: name all six parts, or the app picks the missing ones for you.

For the Gemini app, Google's help pages add the rules:

• Sign-in and age. You must be signed in, and editing images requires being 18 or older.
• How to edit. Add your photo to a chat, then type the change you want in the same message.

Tips for better LinkedIn headshot results
