A car wash flyer does two jobs, depending on who makes it. A team, youth group or school club uses it to fill a parking lot for one Saturday, and a car wash business uses it to sell memberships all year. The checklists, wording and prompts below are split the same way, with the permission and tax questions a fundraiser should settle first. For more ways to raise money, start with the fundraiser flyer wording hub.
What to put on a car wash flyer
The two kinds of car wash flyer share an address and hours, and almost nothing else.
Fundraiser car wash
- Who is raising money, and for what. "Carver Creek High Girls' Soccer, raising money for new uniforms." A cause people can picture gives them a reason to pull in.
- When it runs. "Saturday, October 17, 9 AM to 2 PM."
- The lot and its street address. "Pellbrook Hardware parking lot, 1200 Main Street." Name the business drivers will recognize.
- The price, or "by donation". "$10 cars, $15 trucks and SUVs" is clearer than a suggested donation.
- How to pay. "Cash, card or payment apps."
- A rain date. "Rain date Sunday, October 18."
- What the wash includes. "Exterior wash and towel dry. No interiors."
- Pre-sale tickets, if you sell them. "Buy a $10 ticket from any player and redeem it at the wash." Pre-sales still count if it rains.
Car wash business
- Business name, address and cross street.
- Two or three wash packages with prices. More than three and the flyer turns into a menu board.
- The membership price and its terms. "$24.99 a month, one car, cancel anytime."
- Hours. "Open daily 7 AM to 8 PM."
- One offer with an end date. "$5 off any wash through Sunday, November 15."
- Add-ons. Interior detail, fleet accounts, gift cards.
Car wash flyer ideas and wording
Copy a headline and supporting line, then add your date, lot and price underneath.
| Occasion | Headline | Supporting line |
|---|---|---|
| Sports team | "Car Wash for the Carver Creek Soccer Team" | "$10 a car. Saturday 9 to 2 at Pellbrook Hardware." |
| Church youth group | "Youth Group Car Wash, By Donation" | "Every dollar goes to summer camp." |
| School band or club | "Marching Band Car Wash" | "Help us get to the state competition." |
| Cheer or dance team | "Cheer Car Wash and Bake Sale" | "Cupcakes $2 while you wait." |
| Food drive | "Wash for Food" | "$8 with a canned good, $10 without." |
| Pre-sale tickets | "Car Wash Tickets On Sale Now" | "$10 from any band member. Redeem on wash day." |
| Business grand opening | "Grand Opening: First Wash Free" | "This Saturday and Sunday at 88 Harbor Road" |
| Membership | "Wash Every Day for $24.99 a Month" | "One car, one monthly price. Join at the pay station." |
| Detailing add-on | "Add an Interior Detail, $129" | "Seats shampooed and carpets deep cleaned. Book at the pay station." |
| Winter | "Wash the Road Salt Off" | "Underbody rinse included in every wash through February." |
Wording that works on a car wash sign or handout:
- Put the price where the eye lands first. "$10 CAR WASH" works on a sign; "Car Wash Fundraiser" alone makes drivers guess.
- Give the cause a number. "Help us raise $1,500 for uniforms" reads as a goal people can help finish.
- Pair it with a bake table. Drivers stand around while their car is washed, so a plate of $1 cookies adds money; the bake sale price-list wording fits a car wash table.
Before you hold a fundraiser car wash
Settle these before the flyer goes out, because each one changes what it says.
- Get the lot owner's permission in writing, including which entrance to use and whether you can use the building's water.
- Ask your city where the wash water can go. Call public works or the stormwater office, and ask whether they lend drain covers or charity wash kits.
- Keep tax wording simple. A $10 wash is mostly a purchase, so leave "tax-deductible" off the flyer. Print "Donations support the team" unless your treasurer approves more.
- Plan the sign crew. Adults hold signs at the corner; kids stay on the lot, away from traffic.
Car wash flyer design tips
Make the price as big as the words CAR WASH. Drivers decide whether to turn before they read who you are. A giant "$10" does more than a paragraph about the team.
Use water blue with one loud accent. Blue and yellow, or blue and orange, gives a sign strong contrast at the curb and still says car wash before anyone reads it.
Signs at the curb get four words and an arrow. "CAR WASH $10" and a big arrow toward the entrance. A passing driver won't finish a sentence.
A business flyer carries one offer. Four coupons on one flyer compete with each other. Pick the membership or the seasonal special, not both.
Give coupons a dashed cut line and an end date. The cashier needs both to accept it.
Car wash flyer sizes and printing
The printed flyer is for boards and counters. The corner signs are usually a separate job: hand-letter "CAR WASH $10" and an arrow on bright poster board with a thick marker, and bring a few spares, because they get wet.
| Sheet | Pixels at 300 DPI | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Letter, 8.5 x 11 in | 2550 x 3300 | School office, church lobby, shop windows |
| Half letter, 5.5 x 8.5 in | 1650 x 2550 | Counter handouts and coupons, two to a sheet |
| Tabloid, 11 x 17 in | 3300 x 5100 | Window poster at the car wash entrance |
A car wash flyer on letter paper looks sharpest from Flyer Maker's 4K Tall setting, which gives roughly 290 pixels per inch once a thin strip is trimmed. Print from a 2K or 4K file; 2K is plenty for coupons cut from a half sheet. Poster sizes and quarter-page cards are in the flyer dimensions guide.

How to make a car wash flyer in Flyer Maker
- Start from what a driver needs to know. Open Flyer Maker and type into "Describe your flyer": the cause or business name, when it runs, the lot's street address, prices, how to pay, the rain date, and the one thing drivers should do ("Pull in off Main Street").
- Set the size. Letter flyers and window posters use Tall; the team chat and social posts use Portrait.
- Open "More options." Choose Flyer type Event for a fundraiser or Business for a car wash, then a style: Bold and Vibrant for a roadside fundraiser, Modern and Dark for a membership offer.
- Upload a team crest or business logo with "Add your logo". Expect it at a small size, usually along the top or bottom edge.
- Set the quality. Use 2K for handouts and 4K for letter flyers and window posters.
- Press Create flyer. The charge is currently 80 credits (90 for 2K, 100 for 4K), and most flyers finish in about 30 seconds.
- Read the price, date, weekday and address out loud, and watch for any catchphrase you didn't ask for. Corrections go in "Want to change something?" beneath the flyer; each revision currently costs 60 credits at 1K (70 at 2K, 90 at 4K), while a new run from an edited description costs the full flyer price.
