If you are choosing between Ideogram vs Midjourney, start with what the picture has to carry. Text in images: what each maker says
Each maker's own help pages say what its text rendering supports and where it falls short.
Ideogram puts text at the center of its product. Its docs say Ideogram excels at generating and integrating text, and that Ideogram 4.0, the current model, brings clearer in-image text and JSON prompting with bounding boxes for exact text placement. The same page lists the limits: long passages come out with more misspellings and missing words than short ones; it is not designed for text-heavy documents; English is the most accurate language; and accented or non-Latin characters may not come out right. A typeface can't be named directly, so fonts are described by style ("thin rounded", "formal script").
Midjourney documents text as a narrower feature. On version 6 and later, words in double quotation marks appear in the image; single quotes won't work. Its docs recommend the standard Latin alphabet and shorter words or phrases for text, and suggest the Raw option, a lower Stylize value or the Editor to fix glitches. V8.2 has been the default version since July 24, 2026.
ChatGPT: OpenAI's help center says the current version, ChatGPT Images 2.5, follows instructions to add text inside an image. OpenAI's image generation docs still list exact text placement and crisp lettering among the model's limitations, and OpenAI's prompting guide suggests spelling tricky words letter by letter.

How to test text rendering yourself
The fair way to choose is to run the same prompts in each tool and count mistakes. Run each prompt three times per tool, because results vary between runs, and score every result the same way: one point for each misspelled, missing or extra word, and one for each wrong digit in a price or date.

The poster and the menu are the tests a flyer tool is built for. The wordmark is a logo job, where Ideogram and Recraft focus. Keep the scene simple in every tool: Ideogram's docs say busy scenes make clean text harder.
Price and free plans
Midjourney has four subscription plans, all paid. As of September 2026, Basic costs $10 a month and includes 3.3 hours of Fast GPU time, Standard costs $30 with 15 hours plus unlimited image generation in Relax Mode, Pro costs $60 with 30 hours, and Mega costs $120 with 60 hours. Annual billing gives 20% off, and extra Fast time is $4 an hour. None of the four plans comes with a free trial on the web or in Discord.
Ideogram's Plus plan costs $20 a month billed monthly or $15 a month billed annually, with 1,000 priority credits a month and unlimited slow credits. Pro costs $60 a month, or $42 a month billed annually, with 3,500 priority credits, and Team is $30 per user per month, or $20 billed annually, for at least two users. Unused plan credits lapse when the billing cycle ends, while top-up credits carry over.
ChatGPT Go costs $8 a month and Plus $20 a month. OpenAI's plan list gives Go more image creation than Free, and describes Plus as adding "more complex and accurate image creation". Toybox Flyer Maker currently costs 80 credits per flyer (90 for 2K, 100 for 4K), about 80 cents at top-up prices, with no subscription required; see Toybox pricing.
Privacy and commercial use
The biggest privacy difference is who can see your images. Ideogram publishes images to its community gallery by default, and only Plus and Pro subscribers can keep new images unpublished or delete old ones. On Midjourney, Stealth Mode keeps images and videos private on its website, and only the Pro and Mega plans include it. Midjourney also notes that images made in public Discord channels stay visible to others even with Stealth Mode on.
On commercial use, Ideogram says it doesn't claim ownership of what you generate and allows any use of it, commercial use included. Midjourney says you own what you make, with two exceptions: an image you upscale from another user's work stays theirs, and a business with more than $1,000,000 in yearly gross revenue needs Pro or Mega. OpenAI's terms assign the output to you. Toybox's Terms of Service say you own the rights to the outputs you generate, subject to the Terms, and you're responsible for how you use them. Ideogram is an image generator focused on design work: posters, logos, print-on-demand art and marketing images with words in them. Its current model, Ideogram 4.0, adds native transparency and, where available, follow-up tools such as background removal, extending or reframing an image, and editable text layers. Character Reference and Style Reference guide a generation with your own images, and Custom Models (Team, Pro and Enterprise) train on your brand's assets. Ideogram 4.0 is also published as an open model, with weights on GitHub and Hugging Face, and Ideogram's API also serves image and video models from other companies. You can use it on the web or in its iOS app. Plans start at $15 a month billed annually. The limits come from its own docs: long passages of text are better added in a graphic editor, and images are public on the Free plan. It fits someone making logo concepts, sticker designs or a poster with a short headline.
Midjourney
Midjourney is an image and video generator used on its website and in Discord. The default version, V8.2, focuses on aesthetics and image quality, and its Edit model can change an image from written instructions and combine up to four reference images. V8.1 and later can make 2K HD images without upscaling. Plans run from $10 to $120 a month, all paid. Text in images works best as short phrases in double quotes. Private images need Stealth Mode, on Pro or Mega. It fits artists and designers who care most about the look and add any real text afterward.
ChatGPT Images
ChatGPT Images is the image tool inside ChatGPT, available on every plan. You describe the image in a conversation, upload a photo to edit, or select part of an image and describe the change, though OpenAI notes that selections are not always precise. It can set any aspect ratio and make a background transparent. As of September 2026, Go costs $8 a month and Plus $20 a month, and Free users get fewer, slower images. OpenAI's docs name exact text placement as a known weak spot. It fits people who already use ChatGPT and want a quick image with a short caption.
Toybox Flyer Maker
Toybox AI's Flyer Maker designs a finished flyer from your description in about 30 seconds. The "Describe your flyer" box holds up to 3,000 characters, and a separate "Contact info" field takes your phone number or web address; Flyer Maker uses only the contact details you enter. It can set a full menu of about a dozen items with prices, lay out a weekly class schedule, and write a flyer in Spanish with the accents in place. It comes in three shapes, Portrait 4:5, Tall 3:4 and Wide 5:4, at 1K, 2K or 4K, and for printing, choose 2K or 4K. Rather than draw a QR code that won't scan, it can leave an empty square ("Leave a blank square for your QR code") for you to paste your real code into. When a detail is missing, it fills the space with something of its own, such as a made-up tagline, so include every detail and your exact call to action, then proofread. It fits a flyer, a menu or a class schedule you need today, not a logo or artwork.

OpenAI's docs say text placement can be imprecise, while Ideogram's docs call text its strength.
Ideogram vs Recraft
Recraft describes itself as an AI tool for designers that makes images, vector art, icons and illustrations, and lets you set where text and other elements sit. Between Ideogram and Recraft, vectors are the difference: Recraft's vector art suits a logo that has to scale, while Ideogram's docs say it doesn't offer SVG downloads. On Recraft's Free plan, every image is public and limited to personal use, so commercial use isn't allowed. Basic costs $10 a month billed annually and adds commercial rights, private generations and models from other companies.
Ideogram vs FLUX.2
FLUX.2 is a family of image models from Black Forest Labs rather than a single app, in four versions (max, pro, flex and dev), and the dev version has open weights. Other apps, such as Recraft, include Flux models in their plans. Black Forest Labs says FLUX.2 handles complex typography and UI mockups, takes up to 10 reference images and outputs up to 4 megapixels. Ideogram vs Krea
Krea is a platform that runs many image and video models, including its own Krea 2, with real-time generation and LoRA training. As of September 2026, its Free plan gives 100 compute units a day, and Pro costs $35 a month or $21 a month billed yearly, with 20,000 units. Krea fits someone who wants to switch between many models in one account, while Ideogram fits someone who mainly wants Ideogram's own text-focused model and design tools.
Which one should you pick
- A logo concept, a t-shirt slogan or a poster headline. Use Ideogram. Text is the product's focus, and Plus lets you keep images unpublished.
- Concept art or a mood board where words don't matter. Use Midjourney, and add any text later in a design app. Budget for Pro if the work must stay private.
- An occasional image with a two-word caption, and you already pay for ChatGPT. Use ChatGPT Images, and edit it in the same chat.

Make a text-heavy flyer in Flyer Maker
- Open Flyer Maker and type the full text into "Describe your flyer": what's happening, the weekday and date, start and end times, the street address, the cost, and what readers should do next.
- Under Size, choose Tall ("Printing") for a poster or Portrait ("Instagram post") for social.
- Open More options, pick a Flyer type, and choose the Packed layout if you have a menu or a schedule. For printing, set Quality to 2K or 4K.
