An AI anime generator turns a written description, a photo or a drawing into anime-style art. What you can make with an AI anime generator
Anime art works for anything that needs a character with a clear look. These are common jobs, with the size that fits each one in Image Generator:
- An original character (OC). A portrait of a character you invented for a story, a game or a profile. Portrait 3:4 fits a bust shot.
- Yourself or a friend as an anime character. Attach the photo as a reference, then write what the anime version looks like. Ask a friend before you use their photo.
- A pet as an anime sidekick. Big eyes, simplified fur and the markings that make your pet recognizable.

Anime art styles and the prompt words for each
The word "anime" alone leaves the look open, so any AI image generator in anime style needs the style spelled out. Pick one row and open your prompt with its words:

Pick Smart Editor when you want the pose and background from the photo; the guide to cartoon versions of real photos has instructions written for that kind of repaint. Outside Toybox, you can attach a photo in ChatGPT or the Gemini app and ask for an anime version. Gemini only allows photo edits for users who are at least 18.
Tips for better anime results
Name the style, the framing and the light. "Bust shot, soft rim light, clean digital anime art" gives three decisions to the prompt instead of leaving them to the AI.
Pick the size first. Image Generator's five shapes run from Square 1:1 through Portrait 3:4, Landscape 4:3 and Story 9:16 to Wide 16:9. It has no 4:5, so crop a Portrait image when a post needs that shape.
Write short dialogue. Up to four words per bubble, inside double quotes. When the lettering matters, turn on "Enhanced quality" ("Sharper text and logos", currently 45 credits more), then proofread every letter.
Design your own characters. Describe hair, outfit and props that belong to your character, not to a famous series. If a description starts to sound like a well-known hero, change two of its details.
Say what the eyes look like. Name an eye shape and highlight that fits the style: "large glossy eyes with two highlights" for romance, "narrow, sharp eyes" for action, "simple dot eyes" for chibi. Keep hair and eye color in the same words every time.

What an AI anime generator can't do
Faces won't always match. A reference photo steers the picture, and Toybox makes no promise of an exact likeness. List the features that matter, make a few versions, and check each one against your photo.
Characters change from picture to picture. Nothing carries over between runs on its own. Reuse the same hair, eye and outfit words, like "short silver bob, mismatched eyes, navy blazer", and feed your favorite earlier image back in as a reference.
Lettering can misspell. Bubbles, shop signs and titles are the usual trouble spots. Keep them brief, turn on "Enhanced quality", or request blank bubbles and add the words afterward in an image editor.
Stickers need an extra step. Downloads come as PNG files with a full background, since no Toybox tool makes transparent images. For die-cut stickers, run the art through a background remover before printing.
No copies of existing series. Prompts that name a show's characters or copy its designs can raise copyright and trademark problems, especially if you sell the result. Describe an original design instead.
How to make anime art in Image Generator
- Sign in and open Image Generator. Free plan accounts can use it; every picture costs credits.
- Write or paste the scene in "Describe your image", with your character's hair, eyes and outfit.
- Attach a face, a pet or an earlier picture through "Add reference photos" (optional, 3 at most).
- Set the "Size" to match where the art will live, such as Story for a lock screen.
- For speech bubbles, open "More options" and turn on "Enhanced quality".
- Press "Create image" and give it about 30 seconds, the usual time for an image tool.
- Look over eyes, fingers and lettering. Pro plans can send a correction through "Want to change something?" (currently 85 credits); Free plan users tweak the wording and generate again.
A picture is currently 50 credits (95 with "Enhanced quality") and downloads as a PNG. For a drawing, open Sketch to Life, add it under "Your drawing", pick "Custom" and describe the look in 300 characters or fewer, for example "1990s cel animation, hand-inked outlines, flat colors".
